Now that we have explored the beginning stages of craps, we will now delve into the later stages of the game of Craps. Once the Pass Line/ Don’t Pass line bets have been placed and the point number has been established, the game takes on a whole new face. Players can place a series of different bets in what are called the Come/Don’t Come bets.
Come/Don’t Come
The Come/Don’t Come bet is almost exactly like the Pass Line/Don’t Pass Line bet, however it is made after the point number has been established. Much like the Pass/Don’t Pass, a Come bet will automatically win if the shooter rolls a 7 or an 11, and looses if he rolls a 2, 3 or 12. If any other number is rolled, it becomes the “Come Point” and will win you money if the shooter manages to roll that number before rolling a 7.
Much like the Don’t Pass bet, a Don’t Come bet will automatically win on the roll of a 3 or 12, and loose on a 7 or 11.
The Place Bet
A place bet is made on any of the point numbers. These are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10. The payout of this bet, as explained in the first edition of this craps tutorial, are paid against the odds that the number bet on would be rolled over a 7.
You can also bet that against a point number. This means you are betting that a 7 will be rolled before the number of your choosing. The odds of this happening are very high, and this means the pay out is quite low. However if you’re looking for a low risk bet, this is the way to go.
Field Bet
With a field bet, you place your bet in the field box in the middle of the table. Here, you are betting that one of the numbers 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 will be thrown next. If they are, you win, if any other number, such as 7, is rolled, you lose.
Proposition Bets
The proposition bets are three very specific bets that pay out high. Be advised that this means the odds are stacked high against you. The three proposition bets are:
Horn: You are betting that the next roll will be a 2, 3, 11 or 12.
Any Craps: You are betting that the next roll will be a 2, 3 or 12.
Hardway: This is by far the riskiest bet in craps. Here, you are betting that the shooter will roll a 4, 6, 8 or 10 as a pair of numbers before he rolls a 7, the point, or a 4, 6, 8 or 10 as a sum. As an example, with a hardway bet, you would bet that the shooter can roll a pair of threes to make 6, before he rolls a 7, the point or a 2 with a 4.
As you can see, craps games range from relatively simple to increasingly complex. By memorizing the tips and techniques in this series, you can start yourself off in easier games and gradually work your way up as you become comfortable.
Good luck!
